Planning - The Treatment

This is the treatment for our film - Pathogen. For those of you who don't know, a pathogen is an infectious agent (better know by some as germ). Here's the brief outline:

Pathogen is a conspiracy/mystery thriller film. Pathogen’s plot documents the spread of an unknown virus believed to be transmitted by the country’s water system. With attempts by public health health officials to identify and contain the virus, they have to deal with the loss of public order during the pandemic. Though there’s the introduction of a vaccine to halt the virus’ spread, there is shocking twist that changes the overall impression of the film.

If you were to notice certain words I have made bold; this was to highlight the generic conventions of your typical thriller as well as state the contents of a mystery/conspiracy thriller. However, this is what we plan to film for our opening:

Pathogen’s opening sees Cara, a typical teenage girl, getting ready for college whilst believed to be nursing a cold. The camera follows her into the bathroom as she drinks a dissolvable cold and flu tablet. Whilst walking over to her drawer, she unexpectedly drops to the floor, un-conscience. The screen multiplies showing other ill people and their morning routines. Non-diegetic dialogue takes place between two public health officials (over the phone) and their immediate action towards the outbreak of the virus. After the conversation, the camera fades to darkness and a linear sequence takes place displaying people dying from the virus.

I think this opening is very achievable, however, I have a couple concerns as to whether we'll able to display the screen cutting into multiple pictures. Unable to find a post on YouTube whilst researching for our opening. I fell that we may need to technique a skip. As stated in my first ideas, I also watched the opening for Contagion, though it's very different to our film, I feel we can take inspiration from this.
